  1. Have you removed the sealing tape on (HP) printer cartridge?
Pull out the sealing tape. The toner chamber is sealed and there is no toner can be transfer to the OPC drum.
  2. Does the laser shuttle door of toner cartridge open automatically, after mounted to the printer?
Visually inspect toner cartridge. If the laser shuttle door in the printer doesn’t open, the laser bean cannot reach the OPC surface. Hence, there is no discharge on the OPC surface and no toner transfer. A broken OPC shutter door will stop image transfer from the OPC to the paper surface. Try to open the shuttle door, or otherwise replace your toner cartridge
CAUTION: Do not touch the green roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge. Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
  3. Is any error message come out, after toner cartridge mounted to the printer?
Interpret error code referring to the printer’s user manual.
  4. Could you print in the past, with the same cartridge?
Check if your toner cartridge empty, replace your toner cartridge from MAXTEC’s distributor.
> Light or Faded Print
  1. Is your print paper suitable for laser printer and good quality?
The print media should meet printer’s media. Conditions such as high humidity and high temperatures may cause faint print. High humidity decreases the charge to mass ratio of toner. Less toner is attracted by the MR through friction.
Always use a paper type and weight is supported by the printer referring to the printer’s user manual.
  2. What’s your print preference setting?
Turn off “Economic mode” or “Draft printing” or “lower resolution” mode, at your print preference. Within the PrintDialog Window, click “Properties” or “ Preferences”. And change your setting there. The printer setting sometimes turn to draft printing mode, and the print density adjustment is too light.
  3. Could you print in the past, with the same cartridge?
Check if your toner cartridge empty. The toner supply may properly low, if you find a vertical white streak or faded area appear on your print page. You can temporarily extend the toner cartridge life by redistributing the toner. Removing the toner cartridge, rocking it back and forth to evenly distribute the toner, and then reinserting the cartridge back.
  4. Cannot be solved after above?
Replace with a new toner cartridge. Magnetic roller inside the toner cartridge usually is the major cause of a light printing cartridge. For your last toner cartridge, the problem may due to the obsolescence of magnetic roller with its conductive coating peeled off. The MR should be replaced. When inspecting into the MR, you may find that the coating on the silver tube is worn out.
If a new toner cartridge does not solve the light print problem, check your printer for repairing. The cause may be attributed to a worn out transfer roller. The transfer charge roller which is located inside the printer and cannot be cleaned, it must be replaced.
> Gray Background Print
  1. Is gray background go away after changing your print paper?
You can keep using toner cartridge with change the print media to a lighter basis weight. Always use a paper type and weight is supported by the printer referring to the printer’s user manual.
If you wish to use the last print paper, you can decrease the print density setting within the PrintDialog Window, click “Properties” or “ Preferences”.
  2. Is the gray background go away after a few pages?
You can continue printing with the toner cartridge. Gray background may be more obvious on the first few printout due to inequality of charge to mass ratio of toner. The high charge to mass ratio toner will be easily attracted to the OPC drum and in turn to the paper. Toner powder is made by melting different composition altogether and stir in a semi-liquid state. Then it is converted into solid state and grind. Even the OEM can only narrow a bit the size and the ratio within a standard distribution. Such inequality in size of toner powder and the charge to mass ratio will result a gray background.
  3. MAXTEC’s recommended environment conditions for toner cartridge usage is minimum -10 ℃ to 35 ℃ , while storage is minimum -20 ℃ to 40 ℃.
Extreme printer's environment is affecting your print performance. High temperatures and very dry (low humidity, say less than40%RH) conditions can increase the amount of background shading. Dry environment increase the friction among toner so as to the electrostatic charge. The unexpected electrostatic charge cause more toner, in particular the high in charge to mass ratio, attach to the MR and OPC drum. A gray background is therefore occurred.
